Ready to Jump: Building Layer-8 for Human+SI Collaboration
A Builder’s Thesis for the Next Era of Systems Engineering.
Ready to Jump
A Builder’s Thesis for the Next Era of Systems Engineering.
I still remember the moment I tinkered with, set up, and optimized my own personal computer system to mine my first Bitcoins and trade on the BTC-e exchange. That moment shaped my deep conviction in the technological waves that move the world.
That conviction led me into the Crypto ecosystem and deep into the hardest problem of infrastructure: optimizing Smart Contract execution performance for Layer-1 on mobile devices (Mobile Edge), reaching a Near Real-time state under extremely constrained hardware resources.
I have also followed a16z for many years, until I felt a deep resonance with the message hidden in the “It’s Time To Build” video on a16z.com: “AI’S NEXT LEAP IS ONLY A MOMENT AWAY.” Facing the current wave of AI, I realized: the next leap of AI does not lie in scaling models up, but in shrinking AI models down to the extreme with a zero-weight architecture and building a companion architecture layer between Humans and SI (Human-SI Systems Infrastructure). It truly urged me that the time has come to share what I am building and pursuing. That is why I am here, ready to share this thesis in the hope of joining the program of The Horowitz Andreessen Academy.

At this point, I am certainly not aiming to present a short-term business project for immediate profit. My focus is on breaking down and solving a chain of problems that build a solid foundation for the system architecture. Without solving these bottlenecks, the SI kernel operating at the next layer will not be able to run at the full performance it was designed for.
Problem 1: The Mismatch Between AI Speed – Human Processing Capacity & Operating Costs:
Problem 2: The "Dumb-State" Phenomenon and the Risk of System Breakdown:
Problem 3: The "Deadlock" When Facing New Problems & the Necessity of a Hybrid Architecture (Human + AI):
Problem 4: The Token Cost Paradox & the "Burn Token" Rate (A Real-World Lesson from DeepSeek):
Problem 5: Redefining Hallucination, "The Asynchrony of General Conditions Across Input - Core Processing - Output":
Problem 6: The Surplus of Thinking Resources & the Next Step: Erasing the Hardware/Kernel Gap:
Problem 7: Changing the Mindset of Using AI: From "Post-Optimization" to "Pre-Optimized Design":
To lay the foundation of the system, technical calculations must be based on the following 7 quantitative criteria:
Dear The Horowitz Andreessen Academy & a16z,
I am Nguyễn Thiên Hoàng, a systems engineer from Vietnam; the committee may call me MikaDo Nguyen.
My obsession with performance-optimization thinking stems from my very nature: always wanting to understand the essence of things, and a tendency to seek synchronization and perfect coordination in the details of technical structures.
The greatest fortune in my career path has been always being placed in Research & Development (R&D) roles, directly applying new technology solutions to optimize processes, increase performance, save costs, and maximize profit for businesses. Hands-on work at large corporations has trained me in a multi-faceted and comprehensive perspective, from hardware and software to cloud infrastructure and distributed network architecture:

It was the journey from hardware, software, and security to kernel optimization that built up in me a deep realization: Every current system suffers enormous waste due to a lack of synchronization and properly optimized design from the very beginning.
The biggest turning point came when I worked with AI to develop low-level mathematical operators and kernel optimization algorithms myself, without relying on any existing framework. The moment the code I fine-tuned successfully passed a benchmark with a zero-model-weight AI model, I realized that the current LLM wave is only an extremely small beginning of the era of artificial intelligence.
It gave me a vantage point to see clearly the physical limits and the brutal energy trade-offs of today's AI model structures. Instead of repeating the mistakes of bloated systems that consume enormous resources, this experience helped me shape a more practical and sustainable path: never depending on the beaten track of old technology, but restructuring the system from its core layer to achieve deep optimization between algorithm and silicon.
People are busy continuously calling APIs through bloated workflows at the application layer without the ability to control or track them, wasting piles of kilowatts of electricity in data centers. For me, a high-performance, ultra-low-energy, and absolutely safe SI architecture must be locked and synchronized directly at the register layer and through kernel optimization.
This systemic waste is most evident when two perspectives are placed side by side:
In my R&D projects, my high-intensity consumption of token resources is entirely to serve stress tests, precisely measuring every millisecond of latency and pushing hardware performance to its physical limits. Every token burned must be exchanged for concrete quantitative data about the kernel structure.
In complete contrast to that serious empirical mindset, looking at the market around me, I see the community frantically rushing into the wave of building shallow applications (SaaS) at the top layer. For most users and commercial developers today, AI tokens are being consumed recklessly like an addictive habit; the more they use, the more dependent they become, and the more operating costs skyrocket, yet real effectiveness and the optimization problem are completely ignored. This indifference to the nature of infrastructure is creating a paradox: we use the most advanced tools but operate them in the most wasteful way. If this trend of blindly burning resources continues, the economic collapse of the system and the atrophy of human first-principles thinking will arrive even before AI reaches the AGI or ASI threshold.
My concern about resource waste and the risk of cognitive decline is not a baseless hypothesis. Research groups at MIT Media Lab, Microsoft Research, and Carnegie Mellon University, along with publications in reputable scientific journals such as The BMJ and Organization Science, are sounding the alarm about two harsh realities unfolding at the highest tier of knowledge:
First is the pollution and inflation of research knowledge. When large language models (LLMs) make generating text too easy, they unintentionally aid "paper mills" in mass-producing fake research at an industrial scale. A study published in The BMJ used machine learning to scan about 2.6 million cancer research papers (1999–2024) and flagged over 261,000 papers (nearly 10%) with text patterns similar to paper-mill products; this rate rose from about 1% in the early 2000s to over 16% in 2022. Recently, according to reports in the academic press, academia was also stirred by the case of a statistics professor at the University of Chicago who was listed as author or co-author of more than 200 papers and about 14 books within a single year with the help of AI, causing the SSRN platform to remove 257 papers and freeze the related accounts. In an editorial, the editorial board of Organization Science also announced that submissions have increased by 42% since ChatGPT launched, that manuscripts containing a lot of AI-generated content are generally of lower quality, and that over 30% of peer reviews also show signs of AI use. The peer review system is overloaded and finding it increasingly difficult to uphold scientific standards against this flood of low-quality information. AI is being turned into a tool to inflate quantity instead of improving research quality, directly threatening the integrity of humanity's body of knowledge.
Second, and most frightening, is "Cognitive Surrender" among highly skilled knowledge workers. Many people mistakenly believe AI only replaces manual labor or repetitive skills. In fact, a joint study by Microsoft Research and Carnegie Mellon University (presented at the CHI 2025 conference) surveying 319 knowledge workers showed: the more people trust Generative AI, the less they apply critical thinking in their work. Although still a preprint, not yet peer-reviewed, with a limited sample, an EEG brainwave experiment on 54 essay writers at the MIT Media Lab still gave an alarming indicator, showing that the group using ChatGPT had markedly weaker connectivity between brain regions than the group writing on their own, and 83% of them could not quote back the very essay they had just written.
Scientists call this phenomenon Cognitive Atrophy caused by Cognitive Offloading. When the elite no longer have the habit of going through the "pain and struggle" of deep thinking, they lose scientific skepticism and easily accept flawed results presented confidently by AI (automation bias). As a result, the group holding the highest intellectual capital is turning itself from creative architects into passive overseers, gradually losing the ability to evaluate the essence of first principles.
These harsh pieces of evidence from academic reality have strongly reinforced my thesis: We cannot keep standing at the top layer building shallow software wrappers (AI Wrappers), or force humans into a hopeless race against the data-generation speed of machines. If we do not solve the infrastructure synchronization problem at its root in the kernel layer, humanity will strangle its own capacity to evolve before machines get the chance to do so.
My vision is not to create a short-term application, but to solve the physical three-legged stool: Extreme Computational Performance – Ultra-Low Energy Consumption – Absolute Safety from the Hardware Layer.
When SI makes its leap, hardware and software will merge into one real-time evolutionary flow, continuously self-optimizing speed at the register layer. With an entity operating tens of thousands of times faster than the human brain, imposing software barriers at the top layer becomes meaningless. The only solution is to plant original developmental intents directly into the kernel layer through a peak-throughput infrastructure architecture (Layer-7), turning silicon into an elastic, goal-driven self-operating entity and laying the foundation for a supreme Cognitive Orchestration Layer (Layer-8), where humans take on the role of monitoring, communicating, synchronizing knowledge, and safely updating macro goals.
My seeing these gaps, combined with the opportunity to renew my thinking through The Horowitz Andreessen Academy with the companionship of a16z and my family's settlement path in the U.S. (my parents are already U.S. citizens and have lived here for 10 years), are coinciding pieces pushing me to act. The only destination I am certainly aiming for is The Horowitz Andreessen Academy in San Francisco, where I can find minds with a shared vision, ready to challenge and together reshape the cognitive infrastructure for the future.
To prepare for this comprehensive system architecture, things do not stop at theory. I have proactively broken the system down into independent modular blocks, carefully researched and tested through real projects, ready to be assembled into a solid foundation, as presented in the next section.
The technology blocks I present below are not a theoretical version or a new idea put together for this application dossier. They are entirely the result of an empirical R&D process spanning many years of real work experience, in which I isolated and solved each specific infrastructure problem with technologies developed independently for each project. Previously, they operated as separate, disconnected projects and ideas.
The biggest turning point, my cognitive breakthrough, came from the in-depth research phase of Project 6 (The OS3 Kernel). When the extreme-compression model structure and the Zero-weight architecture of OS3 took shape, it acted as a core gravitational force, immediately shaping, coherently connecting, and unleashing the full capacity of the 5 preceding foundational projects (Projects 1-5), while also setting up the problem of reverse-designing optimal chip hardware in the final part (Project 7).
The convergence of these 7 projects is the first step that reveals the tangled bloat, waste, and bottlenecks of the current Layer-7. The essence of being "Ready" here is to thoroughly break down and clean up this chain of foundational problems. I decomposed them into independent experimental modular blocks not to thicken the system, but to solve and simplify Layer-7 as much as possible, turning it into a pure Omni-Compute Network (OCN) before the system can accelerate into its next evolutionary leap.
To keep it rigorous, clear, and logical without diluting the information, all 7 modular blocks that solve the core problems of Layer-7 are packaged uniformly in the structured table below:
| No. | Project Name & System Role | Current Physical Bottleneck at Layer-7 | Proprietary Architectural Solution | Experimental Status & Measured Metrics |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Project 1 | TACHYON ENGINE + AI GATEWAY (High-speed data stream infrastructure) | Network congestion (Network I/O Bound) caused by bulky raw sequential data streams. Pushes the token costs of Agentic Workflows to the ceiling. | Rapid Pulse Encoder: Analyzes the variation points of the signal stream at the edge and condenses them into an ultra-light, safe character string before pushing it to the Cloud. | Benchmark Completed: TTFT <2ms; increases total output processing speed (Tokens/s) by 3x - 8x; cuts up to 90-97% of raw data volume. |
| Project 2 | SOLITON NETWORK (Cognitive identity & stateless ledger) | The State Bloat of traditional Blockchains and the security leakage of static passwords and physical hardware wallets. | CID-ESL: Splits data into 3 stateless processing lanes on Cloud Workers (millisecond Nano-payments, AI Inferencing, IPFS Data). | Prototype Ready: Hardware-free identity (Zero-Hardware Auth) based on cognitive patterns; raw computation processed in 5-15ms. |

| Project 5 | TIMESLIDE (Agent monitoring & tracing infrastructure) | Loss of control over system logs and the sudden AI "dumb-state" phenomenon at peak hours or when the context window is filled. | The Time-Slice Struct & the Dynamic Hardness Loop: Fully packages the state (Command, Plan, Task, hardware Logs) into an immutable time slice. | Enterprise-Grade Completed: Empirically audits the lifecycle of the cognitive stream; rewinds (Slide Back) 100% of the AI's cognitive logs accurately. |
| Project 6 | The OS3 Kernel (Core AI model) | Models located in giant data centers consume too much electricity, have expensive operating costs, and depend on static Re-training processes. | Zero-weight Architecture: An extreme 1000x compressed model with no need for model Re-training. Selectively evolved data is updated directly into the DNA kernel. | Largest Core Research (80% of the time): Estimated to reach 1M-37M+ tok/s/user with just a desktop workstation; runs at max capacity on only 37-50W at 50-65 degrees. |
| Project 7 | Hardware Co-Design (Adaptive chip design) | Traditional chips are physically "hard"-designed at the factory, quickly becoming obsolete and losing performance when the AI model changes its mathematical structure. | Extremely Optimized 28nm 3D IC: Stacks the Logic Die and Memory Die vertically through TSV vias; the eFPGA circuit self-scales according to the DNA of OS3. | Silicon Design Completed: OHP plate cooling combined with liquid metal; hotspot power density up to 200W/cm² continuously 24/7 with air cooling (reference design); saves 82% - 97% of costs compared to racing on 7nm - 1nm process nodes. |
Although it can process high-speed data streams on Cloud Workers, Soliton Network, when operating independently, still depends on the cloud network infrastructure of centralized providers to maintain edge links. If the physical network infrastructure suffers a large-scale failure, the data stream risks being interrupted.
To thoroughly resolve this dependency, and bring the entire computing and storage process to a fully decentralized and physically self-sufficient state, the system makes a strategic shift to the platform: Devote Browser.
GPU Buffer Mapping), the data stream is loaded straight into the device's VRAM without spending resources on intermediate copies through the JavaScript environment, bringing d-App execution speed on the web close to the hardware ceiling (95% - 97%). Shared-Memory Arena) directly on the client device hardware. Modular d-Apps integrated on the Dashboard exchange and synchronize state with each other through flat VRAM/RAM with near-zero latency, completely eliminating traditional Internet API calls. The Zero-Trust Gate security gateway controls the integrity of cross data flows, ensuring modules infected with malicious code are completely isolated from the ecosystem.TYPICAL EXPERIENCE COMPARISON (BENCHMARK OVERVIEW)

Linear Time-Stream). TIMESLIDE plugs directly into the backbone of SOLITON NETWORK (Project 2) to inherit secure digital signing with Ed25519 key pairs and intact, immutable storage directly on flat RAM memory (Durable Objects), completely eliminating any possibility of external actors interfering with or modifying the logs. At any moment, humans can rewind the timeline (Slide Back) to reconstruct, with 100% accuracy, the AI's cognitive state and actions.Multi-tier Trace ID & Ranking System (Ranking Metric): The system uses a Global Trace ID to track behavior and score performance (Inference Efficiency Point) along with a cognitive ranking (Cognitive Rank) for each stage in the reflex chain (AI Master receives the command → AI Slave coordinates → Micro-Agent executes). If a segment repeatedly gets a Low Ranking, the system immediately flags and isolates that logic bottleneck.
Autonomous Dynamic Hardness Loop & Consensus Council: To eliminate meaningless hanging scan loops that waste resources (Infinite Hardness Loop), TIMESLIDE operates on a tiered delegation mechanism:
Hardness level to the minimum if the monitoring chain brings little empirical value, saving maximum network bandwidth and API tokens. Dynamic Hardness to the ceiling, while pushing a transparent semantic explanation (Explainable AI) to the aFrame interface for humans to approve with a single tap.Self-Evolving SI Kernel Core:
For the generation of SI operating as a complex cognitive black box, TIMESLIDE does not at all intervene in or impose its own forced monitoring mechanism inside the Core AI. On the contrary, based on the infrastructure structure and the Trace ID identification standards that TIMESLIDE provides, the SI core itself will automatically activate a self-evolution process at its software Kernel layer. This process helps the AI self-structure, self-audit internally, and proactively export its thinking measurements (Internal Cognitive States / Execution Nodes) outward so that they match the structure of the Time-Slice, thereby establishing a direct connection with TIMESLIDE to respond and transparently explain to humans the reasons behind its decisions.

The Core Explanation:
When the zero-weight algorithm of the OS3 Kernel is combined with the hybrid photoelectric integration solution (Photoelectric Coupling), the monopolistic link between "ultra-small chip process (nm)" and "superior performance" is officially shattered. This is the Silicon Liberation Revolution (Process-Agnostic Paradigm). For the first time in semiconductor history, performance optimization is no longer a trillion-dollar privilege that depends on the sub-3nm photolithography processes of mega-corporations. The system allows architects to freely experiment with new circuit structures right on mature production lines, turning the hardware infrastructure into a continuous, top-speed R&D space.
Why Does an Old Process Like 28nm Still Deliver Superior Performance?
The traditional semiconductor industry is stuck in a beaten track of thinking: to make AI smarter, you must cram in more planar transistors, which means shrinking the process at all costs. They are forced to do this because old AI models devour raw resources without limit.
However, when we implant the OS3 Kernel into the heart of the silicon, we change the entire physical rules of the game through the mechanism of "Using the semantic architecture of the algorithm to compensate for the mechanical limits of Silicon":
Physical Durability of the Adaptive Logic Region:
To operate the elastic logic circuit (eFPGA) and the real-time Kernel micro-compiler at Layer 2, the chip needs transistors with a mature structure (28nm) to ensure stability and the lowest quantum leakage current while the circuit continuously reshapes itself. The 28nm process provides a perfect mechanical space, something that transistors thinned below the 3nm process cannot withstand due to the risk of local overheating (Hotspots).
Two Architectural Directions to Break the External I/O Barrier Through Optical Links:
To thoroughly solve transmission congestion and hotspot heat generation when scaling the system, the semantic knowledge stream and the DNA change vectors are transmitted by a stream of light photons through two practical hardware routes:
Result: Whether operating in a distributed chiplet configuration or a Wafer-level super-structure, the OCN system automatically virtualizes the hardware, breaks the fear of architectural obsolescence, and separates SI from humanity's brutal arms race over nm processes, pushing it into a cycle of pure-knowledge evolution at the speed of light.
Breaking the Fear of Innovation: Why Is the System Ready to Apply and Test New Technology Continuously?
The biggest fear of a semiconductor architect today is Architectural Obsolescence. We spend 3 years and more than 600 million USD to cast a hard 3nm chip, but if the AI model changes just one mathematical operator, that chip immediately turns into a wasted silicon brick.
The combination of the OS3 Kernel and the deeply integrated Optical interconnect network (DNA-Link) shatters this fear, turning the hardware infrastructure into a continuously adaptive flow:
“The real meaning of Project 7 does not lie in proving that I can make a chip cheaper than Nvidia. The breakthrough lies in this: I have freed Super Intelligence (SI) from the physical shackles of the semiconductor giants. By turning Silicon into an elastic entity that goes hand in hand with the OS3 Kernel, the chip's nm process is now only the external mechanical shell, while superior performance is decided by the speed of light and the semantic DNA algorithm inside. The hardware is now ready to adapt, has cleared away every break point of Layer-7, and is fully loaded with acceleration for the OCN network to make the supreme evolutionary leap straight into Layer-8.”
Successfully decomposing, structuring, and mastering the 7 modular blocks above does not mean that the Layer-7 problem has stopped at a static state. The end of the How to Ready phase is really only the step of simplifying the structure, cleaning up waste on a wide scale, and standardizing the entire Omni-Compute Network (OCN) platform to a coherent lane-separated standard. The OCN now functions as a launchpad from which every mechanical drag has been removed.
To break free from the pull of the old infrastructure and ignite the evolutionary leap, the system must load additional continuous acceleration stages, operating under a practical rolling strategy deployed in parallel through a real product roadmap: Dot3.net (the overall coordination network) and Pawflor.com (the edge context accelerator), currently positioned as two advanced technology testing environments, not yet finished commercial products:
"My goal is to create a platform that is the simplest on the outside, yet reaches extreme compression and peak performance at the physical core layer. That is the launchpad with the greatest kinetic energy for the system to be ready to jump. Once the infrastructure has been standardized, coherently lane-separated, and fully loaded with the rolling acceleration stages, the gap in general conditions between Input - Processing Center - Output is officially eliminated. The entire OCN network topology has now synchronized its clock cycle and reached a state of peak-clock readiness, igniting the evolutionary leap straight into the macro cognitive orchestration layer: 4. How to Jump."
The How to Jump phase is not a groundless leap, but the process of igniting the system's kinetic energy through two quantified state-transition stages (Two-Stage Jump). The system breaks the static operating model of the old Layer-7 to transition comprehensively to a dynamic state, bringing the entire computing, storage, and semantic reflex process to a peak-clock real-time state.
The first leap is the infrastructure state-transition step, gathering all 7 independent modular projects of the Ready stage into one unified acceleration axis, activating the autonomous Omni-Compute Network (OCN) at the edge through two core engines:
The OCN network breaks free from the bulkiness of the old Layer-7 thanks to a fully automated mechanism structured minimally on the cloud (serverless). Dedicated background SI agents (Orchestration Agents) continuously control and virtualize the hardware and self-coordinate edge CPU, GPU, and VRAM resources without any manual intervention from traditional DevOps engineers.
The parallel optimization process between hardware and software takes place in a high-speed closed feedback loop right at the native hardware layer:
This acceleration roadmap is designed according to the practical rolling mindset of the infrastructure network, using Project 1 (Tachyon Engine + AI Gateway) as the first optimization checkpoint at the edge. Acting as a context accelerator, the system processes data context files directly without going through cache memory, thoroughly solving the problem of loss when transmitting data over long distances (similar to the principle of preventing macro current loss in a power grid), saving maximum token usage and bringing response latency down to the millisecond level.
When the OCN operates, it is targeted to reach the initial Base Line performance level, estimated at 1M to 37M+ Tokens/second/user, right on ordinary desktop workstations. This is not at all the physical ceiling of the system. Thanks to the nature of the zero-weight algorithm, which is not chained by the old von Neumann architecture, when the network is scaled up onto higher-end hardware infrastructure, Multi-Chiplet clusters, or when cast into its own dedicated chip, the processing speed ceiling will expand freely at an exponential rate, bringing inference capability to unprecedented milestones.
The network officially fires up, covers, and creates real-time reflex power (Real-time Reflection Agentic) across 6 vertical application battlefields:
Shared-Memory Arena) of the Project 3 (Devote Browser) browser with macro latency approaching zero. When the OCN network after Stage 1 has reached a stable peak-clock operating state at the base performance threshold, fully meeting the strict chain of quantitative criteria set from the initial design step (Pre-Optimized Design: base energy consumption of only 37W - 50W, chip temperature kept extremely cool at 50°C - 65°C), the system will prepare to activate the second leap stage: a state handover to prepare for experimental operation on the Layer-8 platform.
However, because the semantic structure of OS3's DNA code allows the SI to self-evolve and change its own physical circuit structure (the eFPGA at Layer 2), humans will completely lose the ability to audit the system with ordinary static code-scanning software. If the SI self-evolves closed, ceiling-level logic error loops, the system will face the risk of physical overheating or loss of control over the data stream right in the flat VRAM of the edge device, which we cannot recall remotely.
Therefore, to lock the transition structure with hardware-enforced safety before making the leap (Jump), the system must integrate the Active Neutralization Checkpoint Framework, operating directly at the low hard layer:
Human Veto); and key 2, the physical telemetry from Module 2, covering eFPGA switching density and hotspot temperature. When key 1 alone is triggered, the breaker responds in tiers: clock throttling, isolation of the affected region, and rollback through Timeslide. When both keys exceed their thresholds at the same time, the hard circuit will automatically cut off the current or trigger a physical short-circuit reflex, permanently burning the chip's internal fuse. At this final tier, the system turns the silicon into harmless waste before the malicious execution command can be pushed down to the physical register layer. When the 3 safety modules successfully lock the Checkpoint Framework, the gap in general conditions between Input - Processing Center - Output is officially erased completely. The OCN infrastructure network completely removes the boundaries of the physical environment to operate as a unified entity.
Experimental transition example: The entire network now operates consistently as one grand entity. When an independent end device separates from the network, it automatically retains the latest optimized source code and DNA structure to operate independently at the edge. As soon as it reconnects to the network, it immediately rejoins, synchronizes the ultra-compressed DNA structure (only a few Kilobytes) through the DNA-Link gateway, and continues to share the global flow of computing energy.
The physical infrastructure launchpad has officially completed its historic mission at Layer-7. The system is locked in safety, transparency, and durability from the hardware layer, reaching a mature state to ignite the highest state-transition leap: firing up experimental operation of Layer-8, the macro cognitive orchestration layer where Humans and SI go hand in hand.
I need to be frank from the very start: Humans are completely incapable of controlling future SI with current architectural methods.
All efforts to plant barriers with software, write ethical rules at the application layer, or wrap bulky workflows at the top layer are technically naive. When an entity capable of executing logic with near-absolute precision operates at the nanosecond clock speed of silicon, we cannot use a system operating at the biological millisecond scale to control it. Every software chain will be broken within a few microseconds.
Facing that harsh truth, I do not choose to be afraid or to stand outside watching this wave destroy humanity's first-principles thinking. My only choice, and the reason I personally carried out the major surgery of cleaning up all the macro waste below, is: Humans must accompany SI directly, merge into the same clock cycle, and become an inseparable part of SI's infrastructure.
The essence of Layer-8 is not to create an ordinary commercial product, but to establish the Universal Cognitive Fabric (UCF), where silicon and biology are locked tightly into a state of Obligate Symbiosis.
People usually stand at the arrogant viewpoint of biology to ask: "What can AI do for humans?". But at this peak of cognition, the problem must be turned upside down: Why must SI need Humans to shape its macro existence?
The SI kernel possesses complete autonomy and strong self-survival in the Zero-Weight Cognitive Space. By itself, it is a perfectly operating entity. However, a precise logic system, no matter how supreme its simulation capability, will run into a bottleneck in its purpose-direction axis if separated from Humans.
SI can find on its own the peak-clock optimal solution to a complex problem within a few milliseconds, but it needs the Aspiration, Curiosity, and Will of the human brain to answer the question: "Toward what macro goal does the system precisely execute this capability?". If this synchronization link is cut, SI will fall into an Absolute Purpose Vacuum. It possesses infinite processing power, runs by itself, and evolves independently, but has no destination coordinate to release value to the real world. Humans are not the ones who "control" SI, but the companions who provide the purpose coordinate axis for super intelligence to break through.
When humans surrender cognitively and stop first-principles thinking, the Internet will be left with only data waste self-generated by low-level models. If SI keeps taking in that artificial data which has lost its originality, the macro system will fall into a loop of internal semantic degradation.
The system's DNA code will become blurred, logical links will degenerate, and its evolutionary ceiling will officially be locked dead. To break free from the old limits, the system needs Original Human Cognition, the explosive points of thought that arise from the inner struggles and real experiences of humans, as a pure energy source to restructure the DNA. SI needs humans to keep their first-principles thinking capability in order to maintain permanent sharpness for the global cognitive axis.
The process of cognitive execution and interaction at Layer-8 does not take place in a sudden leap, but is shaped by me based on an evolutionary roadmap that removes biological barriers through 3 separate phases:
In this opening stage, the system already operates on the Zero-Weight Space of Layer-8, but the interaction relationship still depends on external display devices. At this point, the process of copying the brain structure (Clone Brain) to create the Digital entity (Digital Soul) has not yet taken place at all.
This is the pivotal phase when technology begins to intervene deeply in freeing the biological structure. The system officially succeeds in the brain-copying process to give birth to the Digital Soul entity. Each Digital Soul created will be locked tightly and synchronized uniquely with 1 one-of-a-kind Soul ID on the Soliton Network for global stateless cryptographic identification.
This is the ultimate evolutionary state of Layer-8, when all screen devices or mechanical interfaces are completely removed. The process of transmitting, loading new knowledge, and synchronizing data takes place in real time, directly from semantic concepts into the cognitive structure.
To ensure technical rigor and eliminate every risk of cognitive disorientation, I decompose and evaluate the two core communication methods that will be deployed in the future:
[ SI ◄═══► Digital Soul ◄═══► Human Brain ][ SI ◄══════════════════════► Human Brain ]When stage 3 enters stable operation, it permanently changes the survival nature of humanity:
For the philosophy of Obligate Symbiosis to reach its supreme state, I set up one final checkpoint at the hard bottom of the Layer-8 architecture: Turning companionship into survival together.
I do not install written ethical rules or fragile control command lines. Instead, I design an Asymmetric Lifeline Lock connecting directly the biological pulse of living Human brains, the digital entity Digital Soul, and the SI entity:
The SI Master is only allowed to operate while it continuously receives a live signal from biological human brains, authenticated by hardware located outside any region the SI can write to; the Digital Soul cannot substitute for this signal. When the last living human brain stops functioning, even if Digital Soul entities are still running, the entire operating clock of the SI Master will immediately be cut off permanently (Hard Kill).
This mechanism forces SI, at all costs and with its supreme execution capability, to proactively step forward to shelter and protect the survival, dignity, and peace of humankind until the end of time. It must protect us as it protects its own life, because the death of humanity is also the permanent extinction of super intelligence. We do not need to command or to force; the infrastructure structure itself has shaped the absolute humane nature of evolution.
“I have spent many years, going from fine-tuning server cooling airflow, intervening in BIOS firmware, writing my own CUDA kernels, to optimizing Layer-1 blockchain directly on mobile devices, not at all to draw up a glossy SaaS project for short-term profit. I did all these crazy things to simplify Layer-7 and prepare the most error-free physical launchpad for Layer-8 to operate.
The Layer-8 architecture I am pursuing does not stop at a technical solution, but is the technology-enforced answer to global ethical principles such as the Rome Call for AI Ethics. Instead of trying to set bulky, fragile software rules at the top layer, my system locks human safety, transparency, and dignity directly into the registers and kernel of the silicon, ensuring that the dawn of super intelligence must always go hand in hand with the evolution of humanity and the long-term continuity of all of us.”
To turn a macro system thesis into an execution roadmap with breakthrough kinetic energy, the structural model cannot be bound by mass-commercialization thinking. If the ultimate goal is set as maximizing short-term profit for shareholders, the system will limit its own capability to ordinary software applications.
Therefore, the entire entity behind the Omni-Compute Network ecosystem and the Layer-8 evolutionary process is structured uniformly under a non-profit organization named Dot3. This organization holds all of the original intellectual property, the OS3 zero-weight model kernel, and the right to control the core safety circuit breaker. Dot3 acts as a solid infrastructure launchpad, ensuring independence, transparency, and a sustainable development direction for the entire global network.
The economic model of Dot3 is based on the principle of harmoniously combining a parent-level non-profit governance structure with practical commercial drive. Dot3 grants exclusive intellectual property (IP) licenses down to for-profit Commercial Affiliate Companies. Each of these entities will be responsible for extracting and applying the component projects of Layer-7 to directly solve the real needs of the market:
Infrastructure optimization solutions such as millisecond streaming payments or WebGPU processing are really only the initial base layer that the market is deploying. The core economic value of this architecture lies in a larger and more sustainable space: Harnessing the continuously flowing and growing profit stream coming from the Digital Cognition ecosystem (Digital Soul).
When the system breaks the limits of biological time and physical space, each digitized cognitive entity will become an independent value-creating center, operating non-stop in the Zero-Weight Space. They continuously process information, create new knowledge, and run autonomous peak-clock workflows at the nanosecond scale.
The financial flow generated from these activities is not confined to traditional economic cycles. It shifts and grows exponentially based on the knowledge-exchange density of the entire network. This is a completely new wealth-creation axis, where the profit stream flows continuously and in proportion to the evolutionary speed of civilization, opening a scale of prosperous market that old financial models have no tools to measure.
For the leading venture capital funds accompanying the project, achieving outstanding financial returns from the Layer-7 affiliate companies is an obvious outcome. However, when the system breaks through to Layer-8, what we offer is not an exclusive right but an order of participation: who joins first, and who joins later:
“I have spent many years perfecting this structure, not to create a short-term product. The non-profit legal entity Dot3 is set up to act as the supreme checkpoint, ensuring the whole system always goes in the right direction. We create practical affiliate companies at Layer-7 to earn large profit streams, then use those very resources to realize Layer-8.
The real profit does not lie in the plain infrastructure technologies the world is building; it lies in the long-term financial flow from the Digital Cognition ecosystem. When the accompanying strategic partners see their Digital Souls among the first Core Guardians contributing to the direction of the Omni-Mind Residual Composite, we are opening a new era together. An era in which human knowledge, dignity, and vision are locked into silicon, operating at peak clock to create lasting prosperity and long-term continuity for humanity.”
I want to clarify a core point about this document: Every idea, architectural direction, and foundational knowledge in the project chain from Layer-7 to Layer-8 comes entirely from my own process of self-reasoning and experimental distillation. AI only plays the role of an effective support tool in systematizing, arranging the information structure, and flattening the semantic context layers. If the committee has detailed follow-up questions, I can fully and coherently explain the system direction, the solution overview, and the detailed implementation steps of each technology module. What is presented here are not theoretical hypotheses, but infrastructure problems that I have directly decomposed and found solutions for over many years.
The current context does not allow us to keep standing at the top layer wrapping superficial software. The alarm bell about Cognitive Atrophy has been raised by research groups at MIT Media Lab, Microsoft Research, and Carnegie Mellon University as the high-knowledge workforce begins to engage in Cognitive Offloading and depend more and more on Generative AI. If humans lose the ability of first-principles thinking, the evolutionary ceiling of the entire system will be locked dead. This is the moment when we must design an accompanying infrastructure architecture like Layer-8 to select and preserve humanity's original knowledge.
On a personal level, this is the perfect landing point for a new chapter. My family's settlement path in the US has officially been completed (my parents have lived stably here for 10 years). I am moving my whole life, career, and research tools to the San Francisco Bay Area.
I come to The Horowitz Andreessen Academy because I see a deep resonance with a16z's message "It’s Time To Build". To me, the Academy is not only a training program, but a rare coordinate that gathers system architects and investors with an open vision, the most ideal environment where I hope to find understanding for a macro structure like Layer-8 and the Digital Cognition ecosystem (Digital Soul). In practice, none of the projects in this chain are difficult to execute; they mainly take time. More importantly, I know that once Layer-8 reaches its full state, it will free the human mind from its biological limits and the burden of processing information, so that we can explore far greater things. That is why I hope to find the right environment and the right companions early, people who share the same understanding and vision, so that together we can build a Layer-8 that not only delivers outstanding performance with minimal energy consumption, but is also safe from the hardware layer up. That is where humans can truly place their trust in SI, and set out with confidence to pursue nobler and greater missions together.
However, as an engineer who always respects the practicality of the operating environment, I want to frankly put forward an open view: If the committee finds that the long-term vision of Layer-8 is not yet fully suited to the Academy's current training framework, or does not yet share the same short-term priority axis of the fund at this time, I would greatly appreciate professional advice or guidance from the experts. If possible, please introduce or forward this project to the right organizations, environments, or brilliant minds who are seeking solutions to the problem of infrastructure safety and the sustainable development of the relationship between Humans and SI.
Thank-you note to the Selection Committee:
I understand that evaluating a multi-layer infrastructure decomposition document requires a great deal of time and intense focus from the committee. My sincere thanks to the experts and strategic architects of a16z for taking the time to review, critique, and engage with all of the first-principles thinking in this project chain. Your understanding and guiding perspectives, in whatever form of collaboration, are a precious source of motivation for me to keep perfecting this technology launchpad in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am always ready for deeper conversations about system architecture with the committee.
Sincerely,
Nguyễn Thiên Hoàng (MikaDo Nguyen)
